On The Road part 1

We rolled in Saskatoon about 20 minutes ago. There’s something about this place that has never rubbed me quite the right way. The first time I was here, I felt out of place.

Today I am drinking a coffee and I haven’t slept quite yet. The bus was half full but it seems that all the seats were full. My seat mate hogged all the space and I was lucky to even get some head room to rest my weary brain.

It is all coming together now. This journey won’t end Monday, this journey will continue for days, weeks and months. The sky was beautiful this morning across the prairies. The sky was lit up by lightning for miles.

I woke up to the rolling hills of Manitoba earlier. It’s been a long trip thus far and it’s only getting longer. I’ve gotten lost in staring contests with the windows, unfortunately, I always lose. There have been miles and miles of road; less and less people. I finally got a seat to myself and I got to stretch my legs a bit. It’s comforting to know that a positive attitude about the whole situation can eventually lead to it paying off.

Winnipeg is on the horizon, I can almost smell it. We should pull in after dinner sometime. Enough time to grab something to eat and then make way for Ontario; the mountains and the Canadian Shield.

I am sure by the time I write again, I’ll have left Winnipeg. It won’t be the first time in so long but at least this time it will be on better circumstances.

The road will open up many possibilities. I have to keep a positive outlook. Be bop, keep it up!

I’ve made my peace with God! Hallelujah! I just left Winnipeg. Thunder Bay in the morning, oh my!

August 10 2008 – 2:53pm

We made it to Thunder Bay this morning. I feel like I finally got a proper sleep. Woke up in Dryden, didn’t care and went back to bed. No one really likes Dryden anyways. Thunder Bay always stirs up some kind of memories, it’s neither here nor there though. Thunder Bay has always been sort of a bum out to me. I don’t know what it is. I think it’s the location that really just strikes a nerve. The area is beautiful. It could also be just my state of mind as I pass from place to place.

We stopped for lunch in White River and it reminded me of her. I definitely pieced together some things. It’s going to take a lot of thinking once I roll in to town to see what I really want to do. It is really all up in the air right now. The most important part is getting there. Viva le revolution mon amie!

Trees, trees, trees. Northern towns and trees. Smell the clean air, smoke those cigarettes. The open road, breath it. Trees.

In Sudbury, we pulled in early. It’s always a nice feeling being early. I think the only downer is, is that; we are here for more than an hour. I guess it gives me and my computer a bit of a chance to recharge. Sure Toronto is only 5 hours away from here on and I’ll probably sleep that time away but it’s nice. I spent the last few hours with my head buried in two books and I am just about ready to reset my brain for the night.

There’s a man who’s been with us since, at least, Thunder Bay. Not sure where exactly he showed up or how he even managed to get on the bus. He seems kindly enough; just kind of doing his own thing.

There’s something about tonight that breathes relief. Is it the fact that I am almost at my destination or something else? Who knows! Take it as it is! Kick ass.

ok I know this is an old blog BUT I just needed to say...

That Saskatoon is a bizarre place in it's own dimension. their public transit has signs that say "please do not chew sunflower seeds on the bus", and my hotel was next to a Guns R Us store...Like Toys R Us, but for big people.
